 Brief Introduction
of the Digital Technology Lab of Computing Technology Institute
in the Chinese Academy of Science
The Digital Technology Lab, a lab of Computing Technology Institute
of Chinese Academy of Science, focuses the fundamental, strategic
and advanced research on digitalization technology and intelligent
human-computer interaction. The main task of the lab closely follows
the demands of the nation's information strategy, closely cooperates
with the Institute of Computing Technology, and concentrates advancing
technology towards creating updated research achievements that serve
as technological support for state economy and local area economy.
Brief introduction
of Advanced Intelligent Human-Computer Interaction Joint Digital
Lab
The Advanced Intelligent Human-Computer Interaction Joint Digital
Lab (JDL), a research organization that specially works on multi-media
technology, intelligence interaction and other related areas, also
does research and development that focuses key technology research
on the wide-band-internet- Multi-media system and key-application-system
development.
The JDL was founded in March of 1996, and was invested by the National
Advanced Technology Research Development Plan (plan 863) and the
Intelligence Computer Experts Group together with Motorola Company
of the U.S.A., which associated with the National Intelligence Computer
Research Center of the Institute Computing Technology of the Chinese
Academy of Science. Therefore, at first JDL called Motorola-NCIC
JDL. JDL has been supported and continues to be supported by the
Institute of Computing Technology of the Chinese Academy of Science
and Graduate School of Chinese Academy of Science from June 2000.
Most of the researchers came from and are still coming from the
Internet Multi-Media Research Center of the Chinese Technology of
Science, the Digitalization Technology Lab of the Institute of Computing
Technology of Chinese Academy of Science, the Computer School of
Harbin Technology University, the Computer School of Beijing Technology
University and guest researchers from domestic and overseas institutes
and enterprises.
The research areas of the JDL mainly include digital audio and
video coding and decoding technology, mass multi-media information
retrieval, human biological features detection and identifications,
Intelligent human-computer interaction and applied arithmetic, etc.
JDL is taking on research projects for National plan number "973",
National Natural Science Foundation, National plan number "863",
National Fifth Decades Science and Technology Problem Solving Plan,
Science and Technology Innovation Program of the Ministry of Education,
Knowledge Innovation Engineering of the Chinese Academy of Science.
